Plasson Electrofusion Fittings

Plasson Electrofusion Fittings offer a high-integrity solution for joining MDPE and compatible polyethylene pipe systems. Engineered with integrated electric heating coils, these fittings create exceptionally strong, homogenous joints through controlled heat fusion. WRAS-approved and conforming to key industry standards, they are suitable for use in pressurised water systems where reliability is critical. Each fitting is profiled to evenly distribute stress across the joint and is individually bagged to maintain cleanliness prior to installation.

Application

  • Potable Water Supply Systems: Fully WRAS-approved for underground and above-ground water applications.
  • Municipal Infrastructure: Used in cold water distribution mains and service connections where long-term reliability is essential.
  • Irrigation and Agricultural Installations: Ideal for high-pressure irrigation lines requiring robust and maintenance-free joints.
  • Industrial and Utility Projects: Suitable for water-handling in process systems and utility piping requiring leak-free performance.

Installation Overview

  • Surface Preparation

Clean and dry the pipe ends thoroughly to remove dust, moisture, and contamination.
Scrape the pipe surface where it will be inserted into the fitting to remove oxidised layers.

  • Assembly

Insert the prepared pipe ends fully into the electrofusion fitting.
Ensure correct alignment and fit, with no undue stress or bending at the joint.

  • Welding

Connect the electrofusion control unit to the fitting terminals.
Follow the specified voltage and time instructions (either barcoded or printed on the fitting).
Do not move or disturb the pipe during the weld cycle.

  • Cooling

Allow the joint to cool undisturbed for the time specified by the manufacturer.
Avoid applying pressure or performing pressure tests until full cooling is achieved.

  • Final Checks

Visually inspect the fitting for weld indicators or inspection markers.
Proceed to pressure testing as per project requirements once the system is fully cured.
