ABS Fittings

Effast ABS fittings are precision-engineered to deliver robust, high-performance connections for industrial pressure pipework systems. Designed to British Standard inch sizes and manufactured from high-impact acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS), these fittings offer excellent strength, chemical resistance, and reliability in low-temperature applications. Available in sizes from ½″ to 8″, they are compatible with Effast ABS pressure pipes and are ideal for potable water, food processing, and industrial fluid transfer applications. All plain-end fittings are joined using ABS solvent cement, ensuring a durable, leak-free seal.

Installation Overview

  • Cut and Chamfer: Cut the pipe squarely and chamfer the leading edge to approximately. 30°–40° to avoid wiping away cement during insertion.
  • Dry Fit: Test fit the pipe into the socket and mark the insertion depth to ensure it seats fully during cementing.
  • Surface Preparation: Lightly abrade the pipe and fitting surfaces with emery cloth to remove gloss and promote adhesion—avoid over-abrading.
  • Cleaning: Degrease and clean both surfaces using a lint-free cloth with MEK Cleaner. Allow surfaces to dry before cementing.
  • Cement Application: Use a clean brush to apply ABS solvent cement evenly to the pipe and fitting socket. Join components immediately.
  • Assembly: Push and twist the pipe into the fitting to the marked depth and hold firmly for 30–60 seconds, depending on pipe size.
  • Curing: Let joints set undisturbed for 10–15 minutes. Full pressure strength is typically achieved after 8 hours; a 24-hour cure is recommended before pressure testing.
  • Ventilation: Carry out jointing in a well-ventilated area and ensure ventilation within the system to disperse solvent vapours.
  • Safety Note: Never use sealing paste or incompatible cement types. Avoid joining in wet conditions or near open flames.
