ABS Valves Inch
ABS Valves & Strainers (Imperial) – for tough, reliable pipework control
If you’re building (or maintaining) an ABS pipeline, the valve choice matters just as much as the pipe and fittings. Our ABS valves and strainers range covers the everyday essentials right through to higher-spec Georg Fischer and Durapipe options, in sizes ½" to 8", making it easy to spec a complete system for industrial services, water handling and process applications.
ABS is a brilliant material for valve bodies because it’s lightweight, corrosion-resistant, and dependable across harsh environments. As with all ABS systems, the jointing method is key: plain ends must be installed using ABS solvent cement and cleaner. Solvent welding works by softening and bonding the pipe OD and the valve socket ID; when the pipe is cut square, deburred, cleaned and properly cemented, you get a strong, permanent, pressure-tight connection.
Core ABS valve range
Standard 2-Way Ball Valves
Your go-to isolation valve for most ABS systems. These are double-union designs with solvent-weld union ends, so the valve body can be removed for servicing without cutting pipework. These valves also include an adjustable locking end to fine-tune ball torque and keep sealing performance spot-on.
Typical uses:
- Isolation
- Plant skids
- Dosing lines
- Industrial distribution
- Water treatment
Check Valves (Non-Return)
Designed to prevent backflow automatically, protecting pumps, instruments and process lines. ABS bodies keep things corrosion-free, while internal springs and elastomer seals support consistent closing action. Great for maintaining direction of flow and preventing contamination or reverse rotation.
Typical uses:
- Pump protection
- Backflow prevention
- Vertical risers
- Recirculation loops
Air Release Valves
Built to release trapped air from pressurised pipework, helping to reduce cavitation risk, noise, flow restriction and pressure losses. Ideal in systems where air pockets can build up and cause “mystery” performance issues.
Typical uses:
- Pressurised water lines
- Dosing systems
- Process services where air entrainment is common
Brass Pressure Relief Valve (with ABS/Brass composite unions)
A robust, adjustable relief/bypass solution where you want the durability of brass internals paired with ABS system connectivity. Supplied with composite unions (unassembled) so you can integrate into ABS pipework correctly: thread sealant/PTFE on threads, and solvent weld on the plain ABS ends.
Typical uses:
- Controlled pressure relief
- Bypass duties
- Pressure regulation support
Georg Fischer ABS valves
Georg Fischer (+GF+) valves are the premium platform choice when you want modularity, traceability, and automation-ready construction.
Manual Georg Fischer ball valves (Type 546 PRO)
A fully unionised design with features aimed at long service life and easier maintenance. Depending on the variant, you’ll see details like lockable levers, integrated mounting inserts, and PTFE ball seats for smooth operation and durability.
Choose Georg Fischer when you want:
- A valve platform designed for industrial process reliability
- Easy removal via union ends
- A strong option for future automation (without changing the valve body)
Electric actuated Georg Fischer valves
For automated on/off or diverting control, Georg Fischer valves are paired with J+J electric actuators (such as the J4C-S20). These assemblies are ideal when you need remote operation, consistent cycling, and weatherproofing for tougher environments.
What the actuator brings to the party:
- Wide supply compatibility (auto-sensing across a broad voltage range, where specified)
- Quarter-turn 90° control with clear position indication
- Manual override for commissioning or power loss
- Weatherproof protection (IP rating as specified on the product)
Pneumatic actuated Georg Fischer valves
Pneumatic options use Prisma actuators for fast, repeatable quarter-turn control. These are a strong fit for plant air environments, control panels, and where you want automation without electrics at the valve.
What the actuator brings to the party:
- 0–90° actuation for ball valves
- Up to 8 bar pilot air supply (as specified)
- Options for single or double acting (size/config dependent)
- Industrial certifications where stated (e.g., ATEX / SIL on the relevant assemblies)
Important: actuated valves are assembled and tested to order, and cannot be returned for refund.
Durapipe ABS valves
Durapipe valves are known for service-friendly features aimed at real-world industrial systems - especially where vibration, thermal movement, or frequent adjustment is part of life.
Manual Durapipe ball valves (VKD / VKR platforms)
- VKD DualBlock® ball valves:
- Engineered to help prevent union nuts loosening (DualBlock) and to support seat adjustment via Seat Stop® features
- VKR metering ball valves:
- Designed for more precise, repeatable flow regulation, using a metering geometry and a clear indicator to support settings on balancing/dosing style duties
Durapipe 3-Way valves (L-port and T-port)
A practical choice when you need to divert or mix flows:
- L-port:
- Directional diversion (typically one outlet at a time depending on position)
- T-port:
- Mixing/diverting capability (can allow multiple flow paths depending on configuration)
Durapipe diaphragm valves, butterfly valves, strainers & specialist control valves
- Diaphragm valves:
- Excellent where you want controlled throttling and isolation with the mechanism separated from the media
- Butterfly valves:
- A compact option for isolation/throttling on bigger lines, with lever or gearbox operation depending on size
- Y strainers:
- Protect downstream kit by capturing debris; serviceable in-line to keep maintenance practical
- Pressure loading/relief valves:
- Combine back-pressure control and relief functions in one unit for system management
Actuated Durapipe valves (electric & pneumatic)
Durapipe automated assemblies mirror the GF approach, pairing proven valve bodies with:
- J+J electric actuators for dependable powered quarter-turn control
- Prisma pneumatic actuators for fast air-driven automation (often favoured in process plants)
Important: actuated valves are assembled and tested to order, and cannot be returned for refund.
Valve Spares & Upgrades
Keeping ABS systems serviceable is the whole point of union valves - and this section is where you’ll find the bits that make maintenance economical.
Typical items include:
- Plain valve end connectors:
- Perfect for replacements/upgrades while keeping compatibility with imperial ABS systems and solvent welding methods
- Replacement valve handles:
- Handy for restoring safe, clear manual operation without swapping the whole valve
- Seal kits (EPDM / FPM):
- Ideal when media compatibility changes, seals wear, or you’re refurbing valves as part of planned maintenance
