Hot Corrosive Liquids - CPVC
If you’re moving hot, aggressive or corrosive fluids and need a system that’s dependable, long-lasting and cost-effective, Corzan CPVC (PVC-C) is a proven industrial solution. At Pipestock, we supply the complete Corzan CPVC pipework system - pipe, fittings, valves and accessories - so you can design, install and maintain your system from one trusted source.
Manufactured by Durapipe UK, Corzan CPVC is a precision-matched, WRAS-approved system engineered to outperform metal in demanding chemical and high-temperature environments.
What is CPVC (PVC-C / PVCC)?
CPVC (Chlorinated Polyvinyl Chloride) is produced by chlorinating PVC resin, which significantly increases temperature capability and chemical resistance. The result is a lightweight, corrosion-resistant material that handles hot acids, alkalis and industrial effluents under pressure - without the scaling, corrosion or maintenance issues associated with metal pipework.

Why Choose Corzan CPVC Over Metal?
✔ Built for Hot, Corrosive Chemicals
Corzan’s balance of chemical resistance, pressure capability and temperature performance makes it ideal for harsh industrial environments where metals corrode, scale or fail prematurely.
✔ Smooth Bore = Better Flow
Low friction reduces pressure loss, inhibits scale build-up and can lower pump energy consumption over the life of the system.
✔ Lightweight & Easy to Install
At roughly half the weight of copper and one-sixth the weight of steel, Corzan CPVC is easier to handle on site, reducing installation time and labour costs.
✔ Non-Toxic & Taint-Free
Free from harmful metallic stabilisers, Corzan is WRc listed and suitable for potable water and sensitive process fluids where purity matters.
✔ Long Service Life, Low Maintenance
Excellent resistance to corrosion, abrasion and erosion results in reduced downtime and lower whole-life costs compared to traditional materials.
Typical Applications
Corzan CPVC pipework is widely used across:
- Chemical processing & dosing systems
- Industrial waste treatment
- Metal surface treatment & finishing
- Hot & cold industrial water services
- Pulp & paper production
- Food & beverage processing (subject to application testing)
- Cooling water and process water systems
Quality, Testing & Environmental Performance
Every Corzan CPVC component is subjected to a rigorous quality control programme, including:
- Dimensional and surface finish checks
- Long and short-term hydrostatic testing
- Impact resistance testing
- Heat reversion analysis
From an environmental perspective, Corzan offers a favourable eco-balance. Its durability, low petroleum content, energy-efficient manufacturing process and long service life help minimise resource use and waste over time.
Installation & Handling Guidance (Best Practice)
- Pipe support: Use clips that allow free axial movement while providing lateral restraint (e.g. Cobra pipe clips)
- Heavy equipment: Valves, filters and pumps should be independently supported
- Buried installations: Use level trench bases, gravel bedding and proper compaction before and after testing
- Storage: Store flat, avoid excessive stacking heights, and protect from prolonged UV exposure
- Identification: Do not apply self-adhesive labels directly - use a barrier layer to prevent stress cracking
- Pressure testing: Never use pressurised gas. Always hydrostatically test with personnel standing clear
CPVC Pipe
Corzan CPVC pipe forms the backbone of the system, offering consistent bore, excellent pressure performance and thermal stability for hot and corrosive media.

How is CPVC joined?
Solvent cement welding is the recommended jointing method for Corzan CPVC systems. The cement chemically softens the pipe and fitting surfaces, forming a strong, long-lasting bond when properly prepared.
1. Cut the pipe clean and square
- Use a saw or circular plastic pipe cutters
2. Remove burrs and swarf
- File a lead chamfer (15°–30°, approx. 3mm) to prevent cement being scraped away during assembly
3. Mark insertion depth
- Mark the pipe to confirm full socket penetration after assembly
4. Abrade the pipe end
- Use clean, coarse emery cloth over a length equal to the fitting socket depth
- Do not over-abrade - Corzan is designed for an interference fit
5. Abrade the fitting socket
- Lightly roughen the internal surface
6. Clean thoroughly
- Use a lint-free cloth moistened with Durapipe ECO Cleaner
7. Select the correct solvent cement
- Always use Durapipe Corzan solvent cement and read the tin label before use
8. Apply solvent cement
- Use a clean brush around half the pipe diameter
- Apply to both pipe and fitting with longitudinal strokes
- Ensure surfaces are fully coated and cement is still liquid
9. Assemble immediately
- Push pipe fully home without twisting
- Hold in place for:
- ~10 seconds (16mm)
- Up to ~45 seconds (160mm)
- A neat bead of cement should appear around the joint edge
10. Remove excess cement
- Wipe away surplus cement from the outside only
11. Seal containers
- Replace lids on cement tins promptly
12. Clean tools
- Clean brushes using ECO Cleaner
Joints per Litre of Solvent Cement
| Nominal Size (mm) | Joints per Litre PVC-C |
| 16 - 32 | 300 |
| 40 - 63 | 120 |
| 75 - 90 | 50 |
| 110 - 160 | 15 |
