PVCu Valves

Effast PVCu valves offer a reliable and versatile solution for controlling flow in pressure pipework systems. Available in a wide range of formats—including 2-way and 3-way ball valves, check valves, and both electrically and pneumatically actuated variants—these valves are designed for long service life and consistent performance. Made from unplasticised polyvinyl chloride (PVCu), they are lightweight, corrosion-resistant, and well-suited to applications involving aggressive or corrosive media.

Ideal for water treatment, chemical handling, and industrial fluid systems, Effast PVCu valves are also WRAS approved where applicable, ensuring safe use in potable water applications.

Installation Overview

  • Preparation: Cut the pipe square and chamfer the end (approx. 3mm x 45°). Dry-fit the pipe and valve, and mark the insertion depth.
  • Surface Abrasion: Lightly abrade the pipe and socket to remove gloss. Avoid over-abrading. Clean both surfaces with MEK Cleaner and allow to dry.
  • Cementing: Apply PVCu solvent cement to both the pipe and valve socket using a clean brush. Assemble immediately, insert to marked depth, and hold in place briefly. Allow at least 24 hours curing time before applying system pressure.
  • Threaded Valves: Use PTFE tape on male threads. Tighten by hand, then use a strap wrench for an additional ¼ turn if necessary. Do not overtighten or use pipe wrenches.
  • Flanged Valves: Install with appropriate backing rings, gaskets, and bolts. Tighten bolts in a criss-cross pattern to evenly compress the gasket. Ensure flanged faces are aligned and properly supported.
  • Important Notes: Always install valves in a well-ventilated area. Never use sealing paste with PVCu components. Valves should be independently supported to avoid stress on joints.
