SSG Claw Couplings

SSG claw couplings are a type of quick-release hose coupling, typically made of steel, designed to provide a fast, secure and reliable connection for fluid or gas transfer (most commonly water or air). The SSG range is specified with the following baseline features: working pressure of 10 bar, a working temperature range from –40 °C to +95 °C, and NBR seals.

These couplings utilise a “claw” or “claw-type” coupling mechanism (often similar in principle to Geka-style couplings). The ends engage by matching claw lugs which twist or lock into one another, forming a sealed joint. Because they are quick-release types, they are not interchangeable with other coupling series, so the same “series” must be used consistently.

• Rapid Connection & Disconnection
  • The claw coupling allows for fast coupling and decoupling, often with a simple twist or quarter-turn action, without needing tools. This saves time during setup, maintenance, hose changes, or emergency operations.
• Safety Coupling Design
  • The design incorporates a locking nut mechanism to prevent accidental disconnection, making it particularly suitable for construction, industrial air systems, and pneumatic applications. 
• Prevention of Hose Whip
  • In pressurised fluid systems, accidental disconnection (e.g., tugged hoses) can lead to dangerous “hose whip”, sudden fluid escape, or injury. A well-designed quick-release coupling ensures that the connection remains secure under pressure and only releases when properly actuated.
• Sealing Under Pressure
  • The coupling maintains a fluid, or air-tight seal across the joint, even when under working pressure.
• Reduced Wear & Simplified Maintenance
  • Because the coupling is designed to engage and disengage cleanly, there is typically less wear on threads or sealing surfaces compared to repeatedly using adaptors or adapters.

• Hose Tail Couplings
  • Used to connect flexible hose to another coupling or system component. The barbed tail provides a secure grip once clamped, ensuring a tight and leak-free connection for air or water transfer.
• Male & Female Threaded Couplings
  • Allow quick connection between a claw coupling and a BSP-threaded fitting or pipe. Commonly used for linking hoses to fixed outlets, valves, or equipment.
