Ropes & Chains

Ropes and chains are vital components for lifting, securing, hoisting, and restraining loads in construction, plumbing, transportation, and general site operations. Their durability, strength, and flexibility make them suitable for both temporary and permanent applications across a range of environments.

Ropes, typically made from synthetic fibres like polypropylene or nylon, offer lightweight handling, resistance to moisture and chemicals, and ease of knotting. They’re commonly used for lashing, hauling, and safety applications.

Chains, generally manufactured from galvanised or stainless steel, provide greater load-bearing capacity and resistance to abrasion, heat, and harsh conditions. They are ideal for heavy-duty tie-downs, lifting, barrier control, and securing equipment.

Selecting the right rope or chain depends on the application’s load requirements, environmental exposure, and safety standards. Both are indispensable for ensuring secure and efficient operations on site.

Different Types

Galvanised Chain:

  • Steel chain coated in zinc for corrosion resistance
  • Ideal for outdoor, marine, and industrial applications

Zinc-Plated Chain:

  • Economical chain with light corrosion resistance
  • Suitable for indoor or dry environments

Ball Chain:

  • Small, interconnected metal balls linked by short lengths of wire
  • Commonly used for blinds, light pulls, and identification tags

Spike Chain:

  • Decorative or specialised chain with extended spikes for deterrent or specific design applications
  • Used in barriers or visual warning systems

Blue Poly Rope (Polypropylene Rope):

  • Lightweight, rot-resistant rope often used in construction, boating, and agriculture
  • Floats on water and handles easily

Fittings & Accessories

D Shackle:

  • U-shaped metal connector with a locking pin
  • Used to link chains or ropes for lifting, rigging, or securing

Carbine Hook (Snap Hook):

  • Spring-loaded hook for quick connection and disconnection
  • Used in safety lines, rigging, and securing tarps or loads

Clevis Hook:

  • Hook with a pin for attachment to chains
  • Common in lifting and load restraint systems

Rope Thimble:

  • Insert used to protect the eye of a rope from wear
  • Maintains loop shape and extends rope life
