Plasson Saddles & Tappers are a reliable solution for modifying or repairing polyethylene pipe systems without the need for full pipeline disassembly. This range includes clamp saddles for branching off existing pipework and repair clamps for sealing damaged sections, all manufactured to high standards using robust materials for durability and long service life. Designed for ease of installation, these fittings enable quick integration of auxiliary components such as water meters and pressure gauges or provide strong, leak-free repair solutions. Suitable for a range of cold water applications, each fitting is pressure tested and adheres to relevant industry standards.
Application
Pipe Branching: Clamp saddles allow for the clean addition of new lines to existing pipelines, minimising disruption.
Water Meter and Gauge Integration: Enables the installation of monitoring and metering devices directly onto a live system.
Pipeline Repairs: Repair clamps are used to seal and reinforce damaged areas in PE pipework without full system replacement.
Utility & Civil Infrastructure: Used in municipal, agricultural, and industrial water systems for rapid intervention and network expansion.
Temporary and Emergency Works: Ideal for fast-response maintenance and on-site repairs in critical service applications.
Materials: Combination of high-grade polymers, stainless steel, and elastomeric seals (varies by model)
Size Range: Varies across product type; typically for PE pipes, 20mm to 315mm
Working Pressure: 10 to 16 bar (dependent on product and size) Tested at 20°C
Temperature Range: Maximum working temperature is dependent on the individual fitting specification
Standards Compliance:
Adheres to applicable national and international standards
Specific WRAS approvals are available per product page
Connection Type: Mechanical clamp or bolt-on design
Seal Type: Integrated elastomeric seals ensure tight, long-lasting compression seals
Installation Overview
Pipe Preparation
Identify the appropriate location on the pipe for branching or repair. Clean the surface thoroughly, removing any dirt, debris, or moisture.
Fitting the Saddle or Clamp
Position the lower and upper parts of the saddle or repair clamp around the pipe. Align the outlet (for tappers) or sealing area (for repair clamps) correctly.
Securing the Fitting
Tighten bolts or clamp mechanisms evenly using a torque wrench or a suitable hand tool. Avoid overtightening to prevent damage to the fitting or pipe surface.
Final Assembly
For tappers, install the outlet or auxiliary device (e.g., meter or gauge) using the correct connection method. Check for proper seating of the seal and ensure outlet caps or covers are fitted if not in immediate use.
Testing & Commissioning
Pressurise the system and inspect the fitting for leaks. Re-check bolt tightness after pressurisation if recommended by the manufacturer.
