Effast PVCu pressure pipe in inch sizes provides a robust and chemically resistant solution for fluid transport in a wide range of industrial and commercial systems. Available in pressure classes C, D, E, and 7, these pipes are suitable for applications including water treatment, chemical processing, cooling systems, and potable water distribution. Manufactured from unplasticised polyvinyl chloride (PVCu), this pipework offers excellent mechanical strength, long-term durability, and outstanding resistance to corrosion and abrasion. It is odourless, tasteless, and fully WRAS approved, making it ideal for hygienic installations.
Technical Specification
Size Range: 1/2″ to 8″ (Imperial / Inch sizes, based on nominal bore)
Pressure Classes: – Class C: 9 bar – Class D: 12 bar – Class E: 15 bar – Class 7: Typically used in specific applications with tailored pressure requirements
Approvals: – WRAS Approved for potable water – BSI Kitemark Certified (Licence No KM 60041)
Chemical Resistance: Excellent resistance to diluted acids, alkalis, salts, and water-soluble solvents
Surface Finish: Smooth bore for reduced pressure loss and minimal limescale formation
Installation Overview
Cut the Pipe: Use a pipe saw or wheel cutter to make a clean, square cut.
Chamfer the Pipe End: File a 3mm x 45° chamfer to prevent solvent displacement during insertion.
Dry Fit: Insert the pipe into the fitting and mark the insertion depth for reference.
Surface Preparation: Lightly abrade the pipe end and fitting socket with emery cloth to remove the glossy finish.
Clean the Surfaces: Wipe with a lint-free cloth soaked in MEK Cleaner. Allow to dry fully.
Apply Solvent Cement: Use a clean brush to apply PVC solvent cement evenly to both pipe and fitting.
Assemble Immediately: Push the pipe fully into the fitting without twisting. Hold for several seconds.
Curing Time: Allow joints to set undisturbed for 10–15 minutes, and fully cure for 24 hours before pressure testing.
Pressure Testing: Test the system at 1.5x the rated pressure after curing has completed.
For Threaded Connections: Use PTFE tape on male threads to ensure a leak-free seal. Avoid overtightening to protect plastic threads from stress.
