PVDF

Overview

PVDF barbed fittings offer a robust, chemical-resistant solution for hose and tube connections in demanding environments. Manufactured from high-grade polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF), these fittings combine excellent thermal stability and corrosion resistance, making them ideal for aggressive fluids, high purity systems, and industrial processes.

Key Features & Specifications

  • Material: 100 % PVDF (natural white) - renowned for its chemical resistance and mechanical integrity.
  • Temperature Range: –20 °C to +120 °C - suitable for many industrial and laboratory applications.
  • Maximum Working Pressure: Up to 14 bar (at ~12 °C) - depending on size and configuration.
  • Connections & Threads: Barbed ends for hose/tube insertion, often paired with BSPT threaded interfaces.
  • Configurations Available: Hose tails, elbows, tees, reducers, and combinations of tube-to-tube or tube-to-thread options.

Advantages & Applications

  • Chemical Compatibility: PVDF resists acids, bases, solvents, and many harsh chemicals, offering long service life in corrosive environments.
  • Purity & Cleanliness: Ideal for high-purity systems, pharmaceutical, semiconductor, or analytical applications where contamination must be minimised.
  • Thermal Stability: Performs reliably across a moderate temperature range, making it suitable for process fluids that see temperature fluctuations.
  • Leak-resistant hose connections: The barb design ensures firm grip of flexible tubing - often used with clamps or heat shrinks for secure sealing.
  • Versatile Use Cases: Chemical processing, laboratory systems, ultra-pure water systems, aggressive fluid transfer, and more.

Choosing the Right Fitting

  • Match the barb size to your hose or tubing internal diameter for optimal sealing.
  • Consider pressure rating and temperature in your intended operating conditions.
  • For threaded interfaces, check BSPT compatibility and ensure proper sealing (e.g. use of PTFE tape or compatible sealants).
  • In multi-fluid or multi-channel systems, use tees, elbows or reducers to route and adapt flow paths efficiently.
