Installtion Overview

  • Component Preparation: Select a compatible flange, backing ring, gasket, and bolt set for the pipe size. Ensure all parts are free from debris, oil, or damage before assembly.
  • Pipe and Flange Assembly: Solvent weld the stub flange to the pipe using PVCu cement and allow full curing (24 hours recommended). Slide the backing ring over the stub flange to sit flush against the raised face.
  • Gasket Positioning: Place the gasket centrally between the flange faces, ensuring full coverage of the bore without obstructing flow.
  • Bolt Assembly: Align the flange faces and insert bolts evenly. Use washers where applicable. Tighten bolts gradually in a star or criss-cross pattern to ensure even pressure distribution.
  • Final Checks: Inspect the joint for even compression of the gasket and correct alignment. Pressure test the system only after all joints have cured and bolts are secure.
  • Important Notes: Do not overtighten bolts, especially when using plastic backing rings. Avoid use in compressed air systems or high-impact applications.
