Alpex-Duo XS

Introduction to Frankische Alpex-Duo XS

Fränkische alpex-duo® XS is an innovative press fitting system designed for secure and efficient drinking water and heating installations. Engineered with cutting-edge materials and smart design features, it ensures leak-proof connections, faster installations, and long-lasting performance. The system combines PPSU (high-performance plastic) and lead-free premium brass, making it a safe and hygienic choice for modern plumbing applications. With no need for calibration and laser-engraved identification, alpex-duo® XS simplifies and enhances professional installations.

What Is PPSU?

PPSU stands for Polyphenylsulfone, which is a high-performance engineering plastic. It's widely used in plumbing and industrial fittings like the Alpex-Duo XS system. Here’s a quick technical summary:

  • High temperature resistance – can handle continuous exposure to high temperatures (used up to 95°C in Alpex applications).
  • Excellent chemical resistance – resists many aggressive substances found in water and heating systems.
  • High impact strength – very tough, reducing risk of damage during transport, installation or operation.
  • Hydrolysis resistance – resists degradation when exposed to hot water and steam over long periods.
  • Hygienic and safe for drinking water – complies with major drinking water standards (e.g. DVGW, WRAS, EU directives).

Why it’s used in products like Alpex-Duo XS:
Because PPSU combines strength, temperature durability, and chemical resistance, it's perfect for plumbing fittings that require:

  • Leak-free connections under pressure.
  • Long service life.
  • Safe contact with drinking water.
  • Stability in both hot and cold water systems.

Applications

  • Drinking water systems: Certified for safe and hygienic water distribution due to the high orrosion resistance.
  • Heating installations: This range is most ideal for radiators, underfloor heating, and boiler connections.
  • New builds & renovations: Reliable for both new installations and system upgrades.
  • Multi-storey buildings: Designed to handle the high demands of high-rise water distribution.
  • District heating systems: Suitable for use in larger heating networks due to the durability of the materials.

Key Features & Benefits

  • Greater Flow Rate: This range has up to 30% larger cross-sectional surfaces, which reduces pressure loss and improves efficiency.
  • Leak-Before-Press Function: Ensures a secure connection by visibly identifying unpressed fittings, enhancing safety.
  • Premium Material Quality: Made from high-performance PPSU and lead-free brass, ensuring corrosion resistance and long-term reliability.
  • No Calibration Required: The three-step installation process (cutting – fixation – pressing) eliminates the need for calibration, saving time and effort.
  • Easy Identification: Laser-engraved markings provide clear visibility of the fitting type and size, ensuring quick and accurate installations.
  • EXtra Safety (XS) Design: Future-proof technology, ensuring compliance with stringent water and heating industry standards.

Technical Specification

  • Pipe Compatibility: alpex multilayer composite pipes (16-32 mm outer diameter).
  • Operating Pressure: Max. 10 bar.
  • Operating Temperature: Continuous use up to 95°C.
  • Materials:

           Fittings: PPSU (Polyphenylsulfone) & lead-free brass (CW724R)

           Pressing Sleeves: Stainless steel.

  • Pressing Profiles: TH & F profiles ensure versatility with common pressing tools.
  • Certifications: Meets strict hygienic and safety standards for drinking water and heating installations.

Installation Overview

The alpex-duo® XS system is designed for quick, easy, and secure installation in just three steps:

  • Cut the pipe to the required length using pipe cutters.
  • Insert the fitting securely without the need for calibration.
  • Press the connection using an appropriate press tool (TH/F profile).

With its leak-before-press function, installers can quickly identify any unpressed fittings, preventing potential issues before system commissioning.
