Why Use Emery Cloths?

During the process of manufacture a thin layer of film is on the surface of the pipe and in the sockets of the fittings and valves. This has to be removed during assembly and the best way of achieving this is through lightly abrading the surface layer on the pipe and in the socket of the fittings and valves. The Object is not to remove material but only to roughen up the surface. Then apply MEK Cleaner followed by the Solvent Cement.
