Material
Pipestock PVCu pipework is only manufactured from the very best grade A raw material. PVCu is the acronym for Polyvinyl Chloride - unplasticised which is a thermoplastic material specially formulated for the manufacture of PVCu Pipe, PVCu Pipe Fittings and PVCu Valves. This material ensures that the PVCu pipe system contains the nessaceary performance characteristics for tough industrial applications.
About PVCu Pipework
PVCu is an excellent thermoplastic pipe system used in many industries in pipelines containing acids, alkalis, chemical processing, sewerage and water treatment. PVCu is extremely resistant to chemicals and is non-toxic. These systems are light, strong and very easy to fit using PVCu Solvent Cement. PVCu Products are simple to identified as they are a dark grey colour.
WRAS Approvals & Standards
PVCu is approved by the Water Research Advisory Scheme for use with potable water.
PVCu Pipes are manufactured in accordance with BS3505 and EN1452-2
PVCu Pipe Fittings are manufactured in accordance with BS4346 Part 1
PVCu Pipe Fittings Threaded conform to the requirements of BS 21 / DIN 2999 / ISO 7
Chemical Resistance
PVCu has been proven to be resistant to a wide range of diluted acids, alkalis, salts and water soluble solvents. PVCu is not resistant to aromatic or chlorinated hydrocarbons. For more detailed information on specific chemical resistance for PVCu please ring us on 0845 634 1053 (local rate)
PVCu Pipe System Pressure/Temperature Relationship
Pressure ratings for plastic pipework systems are always quoted at 20°C, it is a fundamental principle of such systems that if the temperature is increased then the pressure rating must be reduced. PVCu systems should never be used for temperatures in excess of 60°C. The following chart gives a rough guide as to the temperature/pressure relationship of PVCu pipework.
| 20 °C | 30 °C | 40 °C | 50 °C | 60 °C | |
| Class C | 9.0 BAR | 9.0 BAR | 5.2 BAR | 3.5 BAR | 2.0 BAR |
| Class D | 12.0 BAR | 9.6 BAR | 6.9 BAR | 4.6 BAR | 2.6 BAR |
| Class E | 15.0 BAR | 12.0 BAR | 8.7 BAR | 5.8 BAR | 3.3 BAR |
